You’ll find that most kids pop up tents are made for indoors, but that shouldn’t stop you from taking it outside for a garden party or just to relax in the shade ubder a tree with a book.
Having a sleepover? Pop up the tent in the lounge room and throw in some pillows, a couple of torches and books for bedtime stories, and you’ve got some very happy little children to drift off to sleep. And how much fun would it be too wake up in the tent!
If you’re buying a specially shaped kids pop up tent you’ll find that they are quick and easy to assemble. Most good quality ones will have color-coded frames and fiberglass or spring steel poles with a protective coating.
Make sure you look at the size of the space you intend to erect the tent, and whether it will be a permanent little fixture in the bedroom or a toy to bring out now and again in the lounge room and check the size of the tent you want to get to make sure it fits. Some tents may look small but once erected can be quick large, especially if you get ones with tunnels!
The space rocket above is made from 100% biodegradable non-woven material. You may find if you skimp on price you might be skimping on quality of fabric which in turn will lead to the tent not lasting too long as it will fray where the joins or poles are.
Another thing to remember when looking for a tent for your child is their height – will they fit in it? They don’t have to stand up, tents are great with a few cushions or beanbags inside to lay on, but if you’re getting one for sleepovers you might want to make sure it’s wide enough that they can lay in without their feet sticking out! But then again, that’s fun too!
Kids play tents are so easy, especially the pop up ones, that the kids can do it themselves! Watch 5 year old Lily build her own play tent in just a few minutes:
Lily’s play tent has poles, but if you get a pop up, it’s much faster and easier. It’s also a quick and easy clean up and fold away, but this is a little bit trickier in the folding them away and as Lily says it’s easier now because she’s done it “heaps of times” – So don’t lose your instructions!
