Oztrail has introduced their Eco range of pop up tents which are ideal for a single to a three man tent. The Pinnacle Self-Erecting pop up tents can sleep 4 (for around $200US). If you’re a camper who is after a lightweight, quick and easy tent to set up and pack away then the pop up camping tent is ideal for you. It is a great tent made to high quality that will give you all the comfort you need in the bush.. Cheaper brands are only water resistant which means they’re no good in a downpour. The Oztrail pop up camping tent is made out of 100% polyester waterproof fabric that is enhanced with UV protection so it will last a lot longer. To keep you extra dry the seams are sealed with factory tape to prevent leakage. It is also silver coated for extra strength and protection. There is a heavy duty, easy to clean floor, as well as high quality fine mesh panels to protect you from insects.

To put up this kind of tent takes less than a minute as you simply take it out of the bag and throw it in the air. You then need to peg down the four corners and you’re done. Watch the video for a demonstration.

To pack it away, you unpeg it from the ground. Then you simply gather up the ends, stand it on its back end, fold down, twist, stretch the rubber band around it and you’re done! Less than 2 minutes. You might need a couple of practice goes to get it right, but once you get the hang of it, it’s very quick and easy.

The only real disadvantage to a pop up tent is that due to design considerations it has to be short. This just makes a little bit harder to get into a change of clothes as you have to manage it in a horizontal position but this won’t take very long to get used to.

A good quality pop up tent will have very fine mesh screening and be self-erecting with a spring steel frame. These types of tents are great for festival goers, The Big Day Out, or for short hike / camping trips. They are also great for the family camping trip where your teenager wants their own space – plus they can do this without your help.
